Les épreuves de la Grammaire de Champollion (3 fasc., 1836-1841), conservées à l’Ifao, constituent l’étape intermédiaire entre le manuscrit original de l’auteur, aujourd’hui à la Bibliothèque nationale de France, et l’ouvrage imprimé. De la main de Cherubini en ce qui concerne le dessin des hiéroglyphes, elles sont riches d’intérêt pour l’histoire de l’imprimerie et, outre une valeur sentimentale pour l’égyptologie, elles ont une réelle valeur artistique.

The counterproofs of Champollion’s Grammar (3 fasc., 1836-1841), preserved at the Ifao, form the intermediate step between the author’s original manuscript, today conserved at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and the published version. With hieroglyphics hand drawn by Cherubini, they are mostly significant for the history of printing and, beside a sentimental value for Egyptology, they also have a real artistic value.
